Your information is very important to us and we look after it carefully in line with privacy and data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulations. This policy explains what data we collect and why, how we use it and who we share it with, as well as your rights as a data subject.

We are committed to keeping your information secure with appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure its confidentiality, integrity and availability.

We may update this Privacy Policy Notice from time to time and will post any changes on our website www.britishsoapawards.tv so it’s a good idea to come back and read it again, from time to time. This privacy policy notice was last updated on 22 March 2018.

Who are we?

Any reference to "we", "us" and "our" is to ITV Studios Limited (company no. 03106525) and its subsidiary companies. We are known as the “data controller” and you can contact us at privacy@itv.com for more information about how we process your data, including how to exercise your rights as a data subject.

What information are we processing and why?

We obtain personal information about you when you vote on the programme website. We need to process this information to ensure that the voting procedure is fair and accurate. The information we process can include your name, email address, IP address, the browser you use, your email service and the date and time you voted.

The processing of your information is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the company and their partners associated with processing the voting information. We have a legitimate interest in verifying that the vote is cast by you and not a computer, that the vote is valid and that only one vote has been cast per person. We also have a legitimate interest in adjudicating the votes.

Who else do we share your data with?

We will pass your information to our third party service providers in order to facilitate, count, verify and adjudicate the vote on our behalf. However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only elements of your information necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for direct marketing purposes.

Please be reassured that we will not otherwise share your information further, unless we are required to do so by law, for example by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

If you are aged 13 or under‚ please get your parent/guardian's permission beforehand whenever you provide us with any personal information.

None of your data will be transferred outside the European Economic Area, unless we specifically notify you of this beforehand. Where this happens, we will ensure that adequate security and safeguards are in place to appropriately protect your information.

How long do you keep my information?

We retain your information no longer than necessary for the purposes set out in this policy and to allow time to audit the voting process, should it be necessary. We envisage this to be 3 months unless the vote is required for audit purposes in which case it shall be deleted after such completion of such process.
